September 2012 Calendar Photo
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming Yellowstone National Park is truly amazing as parts of it looks like it's from another planet. After all, it does sit on top of the Yellowstone Caldera, the largest supervolcano in North America. In this particular photo, I was drawn in by the mezmorizing colors of the hot spring. The different colors represent pigmented bacteria within the spring. While it looks refreshing enough to dive in, you don't want to do that. Temperatures in the aqua colored area are well over 160 degrees. My approach to the photo was straightforward...capture as much of the spring colors as possible while putting a non-traditional spin on the composition. This photo was captured with my 12-24mm wide angle lens allowed me to get a large area in the frame. Good light, Bill |
